RunningDog welcomes new volunteers to join our pack! To become a certified volunteer, you will need to complete several steps.

  1. Watch the training video below

  2. Complete the Volunteer Training Survey

  3. Purchase any RunningDog apparel item from our store to use when volunteering

  4. Contact one of our partner shelters to register for a shelter volunteer training

  5. You are ready to run with shelter dogs! Please join any of our scheduled monthly Pack Runs, join our volunteer Facebook Group, and check our Facebook Page for regular volunteer support hours!

The RunningDog program operates differently in every facility that we work with. That is beauty of our program! We fit our program to meet the needs of the dogs and also work within the facility policies and procedures. Dependent upon the facility, you will either take a RunningDog Orientation that includes facility specific training, or you will be required to take the RunningDog Orientation in addition to the facility’s orientation session. After you take the necessary orientation, you will be free to stop in for solo runs or join us for scheduled group runs. Each facility has different rules about off property running and field trips/racing events. This will be addressed during your orientation session.

We are always looking for motivated volunteers who are willing to go that extra step to make sure our program continues to be successful. If you are looking for a way to be involved with the organization outside of becoming a volunteer runner, please contact our volunteer coordinator at

Are you looking to join a dynamic board that aims to help pets? RunningDog is always looking for new people to join the efforts to support our missing of keeping dogs physically active and mentally stimulated.
